Anne Doyle: Never Eliminate Yourself

Anne takes her experience as an advocate for powerful women for years on this episode. She has made her own mark trailblazing as an award winning journalist and communication leader and now she joins the tech divas with timely wisdom. After a bit of encouragement we all need, she shares how we can use our collective power to both attract and retain talent in 2020 and beyond. There are more lessons in working with allies and the value of having a long term career plan. Most of all, she shares why it is so key to never eliminate yourself and go bold!

It’s a wonderful time to be a woman in tech. -Anne Doyle

In 2014, I sat in the audience as Anne Doyle told her story of being the first women sports journalist in a male locker room. Since then and for many years prior, she has represented progress and advocacy for women in all areas. That is why I was honored to feature Anne Doyle on this episode. Anne is a global speaker, author, journalist, business executive, podcast host, former elected official, and mom. She is the author of POWERING UP! How America’s Women Achievers Become Leaders and the host of two podcasts:  POWERING UP! and the Game Changers podcast of the International Women’s Forum. We recommend you check all of these out to feel inspired.

Anne also earned her business credentials as a Ford Motor Company communications and governmental affairs executive and was named by Automotive News to its first list of “100 Leading Women in the Auto Industry.” Following her early retirement from Ford, she ran for political office and served four years on the Auburn Hills City Council. Anne knows what it takes to lead and “Power up”.

We talked about the challenges that 2020 has brought, she definitely encouraged all women in tech to hang in there. With the pressure to perform being innate in many women, we can all be reminded to be kind to ourselves.  The surmounting challenges for working moms with no school structure or inability to see people that might have helped in the past are definitely impacting talent in technology careers. It does make it more critical for organizations and people to check in with each other and be more forgiving, so we don’t lose more women talent.

Anne and I also talked about the importance of the collective power to raise more women up in the world of tech. Once one woman gets a seat at the table, she can work to get more women to join her. This led to a great talk on allies, so tune in to hear a call to action to inventory allies and get that long term plan in mind. Take action to be your best.

It’s a wonderful conversation, so be BOLD and tune in.
